Unitarian Universalist

Fellowship of the Albemarle

We are a small but vibrant Fellowship

We meet twice monthly in Edenton, North Carolina to discuss issues of spiritual and moral importance.

Members of our Fellowship believe in the inherent worth of all people and strive to practice a religion based on the toleration of differing views. Though we have deep roots in Christianity, we embrace teachings across a wide range of Eastern and Western religions and philosophies.

Because we strive to be available to people seeking a distinctly personal and practical spiritual experience, we actively seek new participants. Our goal is to be a refuge for inquiring minds: a place where people of good faith may meet and share their experiences of their journey through this life.

 As we come together from our separate lives, we endeavor to offer each other inspiration and rejuvenation on our respective paths. We do this through focused listening, considerate responses, and, above all, kindness.

The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism

  1. 1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;

  2. 2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

  3. 3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;

  4. 4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;

  5. 5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;

  6. 6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;

  7. 7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
